Oldham's Council tax can't keep on going up and up! In all Council Tax Bands, Oldham MBC now charges at least 10% more than in any of our neighbouring authorities - for much  poorer quality public services  

For many people in Saddleworth on fixed incomes the Council Tax has become a major burden - almost a second mortgage and certainly the highest bill they pay for services and utilities.     The Council Tax is so unfair the poorest 20% of households , including many pensioners, pay three times as much, as a proportion of their income, as the richest 20%.

My pledge to you   'If you elect me to represent you on Oldham Council I will not vote for any budget put forward by any party that increases  our council tax.'      

It can be done! The City of Manchester and Salford Councils are amongst the many councils which have not increased their council tax, why can't Oldham do the same ?   

But I don't just want to see our council tax frozen. Our council tax should start coming down. Its wrong to expect people in Saddleworth, especially the retired, to pay so much council tax for so little in return. 
 
Money raised in Saddleworth  should be spent here    

Its time to stop the flow of money out of Saddleworth into Oldham. Millions of ££££'s have been raised in Saddleworth in the past decade for Oldham's coffers.
The new housing developments in Saddleworth have been a major money spinner for the council, not just in extra council tax but in 'planning gain' paid by developers to the council. 

 It's time this money was spent here. There no shortage of things to spend it on - for example: Churchill Fields   are a disgrace and instead of pouring money into Oldham Town Centre with its 'musical water sculptures' and other expensive gimmicks. The council should have been spending some of Saddleworth's money on a water feature we want removing - the regular flooding of Churchill Fields !
